October: Breast Cancer Awareness Month
So October is national breast cancer awareness month. This month has a dear place in my heart. I've never lost anyone to breast cancer, or any cancer in general, but it's my biggest fear that I will. As a woman, breast cancer is extremely serious. It can strike anyone at almost any age. And I've seen what it can do to a family. A girl on my high school soccer team lost her mother to breast cancer and it was so hard to watch them go through that. They are the nicest people in the entire world, I swear, but the worst thing had to happen to them. And that's what really gets me about this disease. It strikes anyone and it doesn't stop to think what type of person you are. Which totally sucks. I'm afraid of getting it, or watching someone close to me get it. So for the last 3 years I've done the breast cancer walk in my hometown with my mom. I love having something that I'm passionate about and sharing that with my mom. I love that I'm making a difference. I love being surrounded by these strong women who are fighting for everything. I'm fighting for the future. I want to fight for personal health and the health of those close to me. I want to fight for a cure so that my children wont have to fight. Watching all these NFL players with their pink on also makes me happy. They have pink shoes, gloves, chin straps, mouth guards, hats, stickers on their helmets, towels, and so much more. All of those items helped donate money to the foundation. All of those NFL stars are playing and fighting for a cure. We're all coming together to make a difference, and I encourage you to do the same. Maybe not breast cancer awareness and finding a cure, but just find something you're passionate about and strive to make a difference.

Yay for the pink shoes!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Panera has a "Pink Ribbon Bagel." Its cherry vanilla flavored and we give a portion of the sales to the foundation. Also, on October 15th, all the money from people buying the bagel go straight to the foundation.
I can't believe I didn't think to tell you this earlier.
WHAT?!! that sounds awesome! except cherry vanilla flavored bagel doesn't sound that tasty. but i'll try it!!
