Halloween

I love Halloween. Ever since I was little I've loved Halloween. To me, it's not necessarily about the candy, but it's about the costume. Playing dress up was like my favorite past time when I was a kid. Some of my best costumes weren't when I got older and smarter, but when I was little. And by best I mean the most hilarious and ridonkulous. I think this is because we used to make our costumes. My parents found serious joy in helping us make costumes for Halloween than just going out and buying them. My sister and I got a real kick out of some of the outfits we wore. One year, I was a witch and my dad painted my face to make me look for real ugly. That's the point of being a witch he told me. I think he had more fun painting my face that year than anything else. I enjoyed scaring the shit out of my sister. Claire was always something cutesy while I just did whatever. One year I was a butterfly, but don't be deceived. It was not cute. I made my own wings. Dear God why did my parents let me go out in public looking like that? I looked like a butterfly on crack. My wings were decked out in beads and sparkles and God knows what else. It was just a train wreck. So I really don't count my butterfly year as cute. Oh, and when I was like two my parents dressed me up as a Notre Dame cheerleader. I could shoot them for this. It doesn't make sense why they did that either. I mean they have always been crazy IU fans. They have hated Notre Dame since the seventies. I guess I can excuse this serious lapse in judgement someday. This year for Halloween I'm going to be a nerdy schoolgirl with Jocelyn. We look hilarious. Unfortunately I wont get to walk all over the neighborhood and freeze my ass off begging for tricks or treats. Oh! My aunt sent me the cutest little Halloween gift basket. It had candy in it. That's what I'll eat for my Halloween candy fix this year.
