Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend

In high school, I dated. I had boyfriends. The total is 6 boyfriends in four years. A few of those relationships were long-standing, the majority of them not. Now don't judge, I wasn't the high school slut or anything. I wasn't sleeping around being the town whore. I was a happy and outgoing girl who was a little boy crazy. Boys are so cute. And thrilling. That thrill of liking someone new was something I really loved. I can be that thrill seeking type of person when the moment is right. I'm slightly traditional when it comes to dating too. I expect chivalry though many people claim that's dead. And if you think that's being high maintainence, shove it because every girl deserves a man who can step up and treat her with respect. But one thing I've always refused in relationships is jewelry for a gift. I have never, in all my relationships, ever allowed a boy to buy me jewelry for any special occasion. I dated a guy for a year and a half and still didn't let him get me a necklace, bracelet, earrings, etc. It was a gift that made me feel uncomfortable. I know, a lot of you are thinking that it's just jewelry. But to me, jewelry that is given in an intimate relationship means something more. It represents a strong commitment between two people who truly love each other. I think of jewelry as a representation of something more than just diamonds and a chain. Jewelry is a gift you give to like your wife, not your girlfriend. And high school relationships never seemed to have much length or depth to them. If that makes any sense at all.
Recently, I've gone out on a limb and decided that maybe jewelry is okay. I've changed my mind yet again. I'm not exactly sure why, it just feels right. I just know I'm happy and ready to move forward with my life. I want to stop holding back and allow things to happen, whatever that may be.
